Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Barry, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any extra requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking, with the total payment and security deposit usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. Additionally, please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the start of your rental; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than scheduled. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with a corresponding administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Full coverage details and excess amounts will be outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Vehicles must not be used for illegal purposes or activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Use the vehicle only for its intended purposes, and adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Barry Car Hire is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
Revisions to Terms
Barry reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
